Brazilian flat distributor sales increase in October

Brazilian flat steel distributor sales rose 0.6 percent in October, year-on-year, and 4.1 percent, month-on-month, to 268,500 mt, according to a report from the nation’s flat steel distributors association, Inda.

According to Inda, purchases of flat steel products by Brazilian distributors in October rose 3.7 percent, year-on-year, and 9.3 percent, month-on-month, to 267,000 mt.

Distributors’ inventory in October dropped 0.2 percent, month-on-month, to 904,900 mt. Inventory turnover in October decreased to 3.4 months, from 3.5 months in September.

Brazilian imports of flat steel by local distributors in October reached 48,800 mt, 58.6 percent down, year-on-year, and 57 percent down, month-on-month.

Inda estimated both sales and purchases of flat steel products by Brazilian distributors in November to diminish 12 percent, month-on-month.
