Brazilian crude steel production declines in October

Brazilian crude steel output in October declined 19.4 percent, year-on-year, to 2.6 million mt, according to local steel association, IABr.

Domestic steel sales in October dropped 3.5 percent, year-on-year, to 1.6 million mt, while apparent steel consumption in October was 1.8 million mt, 1.5 percent up, year-on-year.

Brazilian steel exports in October reached 1.1 million mt, 37.8 percent down, year-on-year. By value, steel exports reached $595 million in October, 49.4 percent down, year-on-year.

Brazilian steel imports in October totaled 209,000 mt in volume, 67.2 percent up, year-on-year, at a value of $218 million, 22.5 percent up, year-on-year.

As for the accumulated period of January to October, Brazilian crude steel output was 27.2 million mt, 8.6 percent down, year-on-year. Domestic steel sales in the ten-month period fell 2.4 percent, year-on-year, to 15.5 million mt.

Brazilian steel imports in the January-October period reached 2.1 million mt, 1.2 percent up, year-on-year. Exports of steel in the January-October period totaled 10.6 million mt, 6.4 percent down, year-on-year.
