Brazilian crude steel production in November declined 10.5 percent, year-on-year, to 2.6 million mt, local steel association IABr said late this week. Domestic steel sales in November totaled 1.6 million mt, 0.4 percent up, year-on-year.
Brazilian imports of steel in November reached 128,000 mt in volume, 25.6 percent down, year-on-year, and $156 million in value, 23.5 percent down, also on a year-on-year basis.
Brazilian steel exports in November totaled 1.1 million mt in volume, 17 percent down, year-on-year, and $544 million in value, 35.5 percent down, also year-on-year.
As for the accumulated period of January to November, Brazilian crude steel output was 29.8 million mt, 8.8 percent down, year-on-year. Domestic steel sales in the 11-month period reached 17.1 million mt, 2.1 percent down, year-on-year.
Brazilian steel imports in the January-November period declined 0.8 percent, year-on-year, in terms of volume to 2.2 million mt, and 5.4 percent, year-on-year, in terms of value, reaching $2.3 billion.
Brazilian steel exports in the accumulated period of January to November reached 11.8 million mt in terms of volume, 6.7 percent down, year-on-year. As for value, Brazilian steel exports in the January-November period totaled $6.8 billion, 16.2 percent down, year-on-year.
