A Brazilian federal court in the state of Pará has ordered Vale to declare a state of emergency for two dams in the city of Parauapebas, Pará state.

The court said both the Pondes de Rejeitos and Captação de Água dams don’t have efficient water runoff systems, which could affect the stability of the structures.

The court ruling order Vale to implement prevention measures to aid the two dams in up to five days.

Vale was also demanded to start special dam safety inspections as long as the state of emergency remains active.
