Brazilian civil construction activity declines in April

Brazilian civil construction activity in April declined to 29.4 points from 45.8 points in April 2019, in a scale from zero to 100, in which values above 50 indicate growth, according to a report from the local confederation of industries (CNI).

CNI said the local civil construction activity level in April was the second lowest of all time, just after the weak levels seen in March this year.  Brazilian civil construction activity in April slightly improved from 28.8 points in March this year, but still reflects the impact of Covid-19.

Capacity utilization of the Brazilian civil construction industry in April fell to 50 percent, down from 56 percent in April 2019, and from 52 percent in March this year, the lowest rate recorded since the series began in 2012.

The indicator that measures the number of job positions in the sector in April dropped to 34.7 points, from 44.1 points in April 2019, and from 39 points in March this year.
