According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), the country's iron ore exports in February this year amounted to 20.69 million metric tons, increasing by 50.82 percent year on year.
In February, iron ore exports of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale accounted for 90.58 percent of the country's total iron ore exports, amounting to 18.74 million metric tons, up 42.62 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Brazil's iron ore exports in the first two months of 2010 rose by 36 percent year on year, reaching 41.59 million metric tons.
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-February period reached 90.15 percent and amounted to 37.5 million metric tons, soaring by 27.56 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
