The Brazilian ministry of industry, foreign trade and services (MDIC) rejected a request from a local tube producer to investigate imports of Chinese and South Korean carbon alloyed steel pipes.

Tenaris-owned tube producer Confab requested on July 31, 2017, Brazil to commence an investigation over the imports of the products, which were allegedly exported to the Brazilian market at unfair prices. The products currently fall under the following Mercosur HTS codes: 7305.11.00, 7305.12.00 and 7306.1900.

Confab and Tuper SA are Brazil’s only tube producers for carbon alloyed steel pipes of circular section, electric resistance (ERW) or longitudinal submerged arc-welding pipe (LSAW), with an external diameter equal or superior to 10 inches or equal to or inferior to 48 inches.

MDIC said it did not find enough reasons to commence the requested anti-dumping (AD) investigation.
