Brazilian mining regulator ANM said it is inspecting an iron ore dam that flooded in Congonhas, Minas Gerais state.

ANM said the Josino dam, which is owned by iron ore producer Ferro + Mineração SA, “flooded” due to heavy rains in Minas Gerais state.

ANM said the dam did not burst, but spilled “sediments” due to the incident.

The regulator said the company’s dam had been labeled as stable and didn’t present anomalies, according to a document attesting the structure’s stability dated September this year.
