Brazil flat steel distributor sales increase 37.8 percent in June

Brazilian flat steel distributor sales in June rose 37.8 percent, year-on-year, to 307,400 mt, the nation’s steel distributor association (Inda) said on Tuesday. Sales grew 51.5 percent when compared to May.

Purchases of flat steel by local distributors in June improved 17.9 percent, year-on-year, and 20.7 percent, month-on-month, to 270,800 mt.

Flat steel inventory by Brazilian distributors in June dropped 3.9 percent, month-on-month, to 910,600 mt.  Inventory turnover declined to 3 months in June, from 4.7 months in May.

Distributors’ flat steel imports in June increased 24.6 percent, year-on-year, and increased 15.4 percent, month-on-month, to 127,600 mt.

Inda forecasted both the purchases and sales of flat steel by local distributors to decrease 15 percent in July on a month-on-month basis.
