Brazil flat steel distributor sales 18.1 percent up in April

Brazilian flat steel distributor sales in April rose 18.1 percent, year-on-year, but dropped 15 percent, month-on-month, to 266,00 mt, according to the nation’s flat steel distributors association (Inda).

Purchases of flat steel products by distributors in April decreased 14.2 percent, year-on-year, and 17.2 percent, month-on-month, to 226,300 mt. Flat steel inventory in April fell 4.6 percent, month-on-month, to 814,100 mt. Inventory turnover in April rose to 3.1 months from 2.7 months in March this year.

Brazilian flat steel imports by local distributors in April diminished 6.8 percent, year-on-year, and 25.9 percent, month-on-month, to 91,100 mt.

Inda estimated both the sales and purchases of flat steel products by Brazilian distributors in May to decline 5 percent on a month-on-month basis.
