Brazilian sales of flat steel products by local distributors in May grew 32.6 percent, year-on-year, and 1.2 percent, month-on-month, to 269,100 mt, the nation’s flat steel distributors association, Inda, said on Wednesday.
Purchases of flat steel by distributors in May rose 9.6 percent, year-on-year, and 8.7 percent, month-on-month, to 246,000 mt. Local flat steel inventory in May dropped 2.8 percent, month-on-month, to 791,000 mt. Inventory turnover in May fell to 2.9 months, from 3.1 months in April.
Brazilian flat steel imports by local distributors in May increased 14.7 percent, year-on-year, and 39.3 percent, month-on-month, to 126,800 mt.
Inda estimated both the sales and purchases of flat steel products by Brazilian distributors in June to decline 15 percent on a month-on-month basis.
