Brazilian automotive industry association Anfavea expects the country to increase auto production to 3.16 million units in 2020, up 7.3 percent compared to the full year 2019.
Anfavea also estimated Brazilian exports of vehicles in 2020 to decline 11 percent, year-on-year, to 381,000 units. Domestic sales of autos in 2020 should rise 9.4 percent, year-on-year, to 3.05 million, the association estimated.
Anfavea also unveiled data for December 2019. In December, new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 262,600 units, 12 percent up, year-on-year. Exports of cars in December dropped 8.5 percent, year-on-year, to 29,000 units. Brazilian production of vehicles in December fell 3.9 percent, year-on-year, to 170,500 units.
