Brazilian steel distributor Açovisa plans to expand to Latin America in 2018, following the launching of three units in Brazil, a media report from Fator Brasil said.

Açovisa, which distributes Gerdau’s steel products, recently inaugurated two new plants in the state of Parana and a third one in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. It currently operates 16 units in Brazil.

The media report said Açovisa plans to expand to Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Argentina.

Francis Bassi de Melo, one of Açovisa's co-founders, said the outlook for Brazil’s steel industry has further improved as compared to 2017. Andreis Bassi de Melo, the other co-founder, added, “Our expansion process has been very strategic, as we seek to reach markets with a clear demand for specialty steel,”

Açovisa distributes a wide range of steel products including bars and finished profiles, forged bars, and mechanical tubes.
