Brazil civil construction activity declines in January

Brazilian civil construction activity in the first month of the year dropped to 44 points, from 45.6 points in January 2018, on a scale from zero to 100, in which values above 50 show growth, according to the national confederation of industries (CNI). Local civil construction activity in January slightly decreased from 44.4 points in December 2018.

CNI said the capacity utilization of the local civil construction segment in January was 55 percent, down from 60 percent in January 2018 and also down from 57 percent in December 2018.

The indicator that measures the number of job positions in the local civil construction segment declined to 42.5 points in January 2019 from 43.9 points in January 2018, and from 42.8 points in December.
