Russia-based Bratsk Ferroalloys Plant, a mill belonging to Mechel Group, has announced improved sales of high-quality ferrosilicon in 2019 due to better demand.
According to the official statement, in 2019 Bratsk Ferroalloys Plant sold over 30,000 mt of ferrosilicon (75% Si), up 57 percent year on year. The material was mostly supplied to the Asian markets. “The significant growth of production is due to higher demand from customers. Among others, we managed to reduce production costs and decreased the amortization expenses amid internal cooperation: to meet needs of Bratsk Ferroalloys Plant, Mechel Group's enterprises - Izhstal and Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant - produced high-strength plates for raw materials and ferrosilicon crushers as well as pig iron molds for metal casting,” stated Serhei Sokolov, CEO of Bratsk Ferroalloys Plant.
