In the first seven months of 2018, the Philippines imported 1.89 million mt of billet, up 122 percent compared to the same period the previous year. A source noted that factors such as US tariffs, attractive Turkish offers, and overall “attractively priced” billet into the region helped fuel the surge in billet imports into the Philippines.
