Benxi Steel Group’s steel exports in 2006-10 total $3.667 billion in value

Liaoning Province-based Chinese steel producer Benxi Steel Group (Benxi Steel) has issued a summary of its performance during the period of China's 11th five-year plan (2006-2010).
 
During the five-year period, Benxi Steel added 178 new steel grades, 145 more than the total of new steel grades added in the 10th five-year plan period (2001-2005). At present, Benxi Steel has a total of 400 steel grades of hot rolled, cold rolled, hot galvanized and coated steel products, as well as over 450 grades of special steel sections.
 
In order to expand its overseas market share, in the 2006-10 period Benxi Steel set up offices in Hong Kong, South Korea, Europe and North America, in addition to its networks in Southeast Asia. During the period in question, Benxi Steel exported a total of 5.916 million mt of steel products, with an aggregate value of $3.667 billion.
 
Data from Chinese customs indicate that in the first 10 months of 2010 Benxi Steel achieved total exports of 2.45 million mt of steel products, equal to 2.8 million mt for 2010 when annually adjusted. This represents a record annual volume of steel exports for Benxi Steel.
 
Looking forward to China's 12th five-year plan period, Benxi Steel stated that in the five-year period it is targeting a total production of 6.15 million mt of cold rolled and galvanized steel products (mainly sheets for the automotive and household appliance sectors), 4.57 million mt of hot rolled steel products (with high quality line pipe, high strength automotive steel and high strength structural steel as the core products), one million mt of special steel, 460,000 mt of stainless steel, and 300,000 mt of silicon steel. In the period in question, Benxi Steel aims to achieve an aggregate sales income of RMB 135.3 billion ($20.6 billion).
