German plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that it will supply a continuous hot dip galvanizing line for the Chinese Bengang Steel Plates Co. (Bengang). With this investment, Bengang is entering the market for high-quality hot dip galvanized (HDG) automotive grades for unexposed and exposed vehicle parts.

The line will be part of the new cold rolling mill No. 3 in the northern Chinese province of Liaoning and is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2015 with an annual production capacity of approximately 500,000 mt. The strips will be galvanized or galvanneal-coated.

The processed strip widths will range between 800 and 1,870 mm and the strip thicknesses between 0.4 and 2.5 mm.
