Belgo-Mineira to announce expansion plan

Brazilian steel producer Belgo-Mineira will announce a new capacity expansion plan for its plant in Piracicaba on April 1, 2005, Brazilian sources suggest. The Brazilian producer increased the capacity at the plant two-fold to 1.1 million tons per annum. The Piracicaba plant produces construction iron bars. Belgo-Mineira is controlled by Luxembourg-based steel giant Arcelor.
