Beijing imposes emergency air pollution measures

The municipal government of the Chinese capital Beijing has announced an orange alert for heavy air pollution and has decided to implement emergency response measures effective from 00:00 on March 2 until 24:00 on March 4.

In particular, the transportation of construction waste, mud, sand and stone will be suspended. Other measures include the suspension of a number of outdoor construction operations and the halting or restriction of production operations of some manufacturing companies. Meanwhile, building demolition, fireworks and outdoor barbecues are prohibited.
