Shanghai-based Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group has announced that the X70 line pipe steel produced by its Xinjiang-based subsidiary Bayi Steel has successfully passed tests carried out by PetroChina Co., and so Bayi Steel has become a qualified supplier of X70 line pipe steel for PetroChina. PetroChina, which is the listed arm of state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), is China’s biggest oil company.

In December last year, PetroChina organized tests for a 1,000 mt batch of X70 hot rolled coil from Bayi Steel. As PetroChina’s subsidiaries have established several steel pipe plants in Xinjiang, Bayi Steel is in a good position to supply these plants.
