Shanghai-based Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has announced that its steel pipe for building submarine pipelines has been approved by international classification society Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) after an evaluation process lasting six months. Accordingly, Baosteel has successfully become the only steel enterprise approved by DNV GL in China.

The approval in question will enable Baosteel to expand its presence in the international high-end submarine pipeline steel pipe market and to qualify for participation in bidding for large international marine pipeline engineering projects.
