Baosteel special steel shuts down the 1 million mt electric furnace

According to Shanghai-based Chinese steel giant Baosteel, its special steel division has permanently shut down the 1 million mt electric furnace.

Baosteel's special steel division shutdown the continuous biller caster in September this year within the scope of restructuring works. Following the shutdown of the 1 million mt continuous billet caster, the electric furnace was formally halt in production as well.

Commissioned in March 1997, the electric furnace in question produced 5.25 million mt of high quality steel over of a period of almost 15 years.
