On March 3, Chinese steelmaker Baosteel announced its ex-factory prices for certain flat steel products for the month of April 2009. The details are as follows:
1. Hot rolled
Prices have fallen by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt). After the adjustment, the price of SS400 5.75 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 3,392/mt ($497/mt), while that of SPHC 2.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 3,792/mt ($555/mt).
2. Cold rolled
Prices have fallen by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt). The new price of DC01 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 4,026/mt ($589/mt).
3. Hot rolled P/O
Base prices have decreased by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt). Thus, the new price of SPHC 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C stands at RMB 3,347/mt ($490/mt).
4. Galvanized steel
Prices have fallen by RMB 200/mt ($29/mt).
5. Color coated coils
March prices are still in effect. As a result, the price of TDC51D (TSt01, TSt02, TSt03) 0.5 mm x 1,200 mm x C is still at RMB 5,987/mt ($877/mt).
6. HRP and shipbuilding plate
Prices have remained unchanged, and so Q235B 20-30 mm x 2,000-2,500 mm wide and heavy plate still costs RMB 3,700/mt ($542/mt).
All the above prices exclude taxes (17 percent VAT) and are effective as of March 3,2009.
