Baosteel again leads Chinese steelmakers in iron ore negotiations

After the failure to achieve any result in the 2009 iron ore price talks, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has again ceded its place to leading Chinese steelmaker Baosteel as the chief negotiator on the Chinese side in the 2010 iron ore price negotiations.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has stated that Baosteel will lead the Chinese steelmakers in the upcoming iron ore price talks, with assistance being provided by the CISA and the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importer and Exporters (CCCMC). It is heard that Baosteel has already started talks with Australian miners Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.
