Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel (Baogang) has signed a contract for the supply of 15,000 mt of X65M pipeline steel to an Indian customer, as announced by Baogang. This is the first pipeline steel order that Baogang has received from India since it was approved as a qualified supplier by India-based Oil and Natutral Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) in October this year. The pipeline steel in the order in question will be used to make large diameter spiral welded pipes, for application in sea water desalination.
