Bangladesh bulk scrap imports up in last four months of 2017

According to Bangladesh’s customs data, bulk scrap imports to Bangladesh during the full-year 2017 reached approximately 1.04 million mt, an increase of 44 percent compared to 722,300 mt of bulk scrap imports in 2016.

After a low summer of bulk scrap imports that averaged 25,000 mt from May through August, the last four months of 2017 encountered significant year-on-year increases of bulk scrap imports. In the last four months of the year, bulk scrap imports totaled 554,980 mt, or 54 percent of the total bulk scrap imports for the year.
