In mid-August (August 11-20) this year, the average price in China of coking coal was recorded at RMB 1,150.0/mt ($168.4/mt), down RMB 7.5/mt ($1.1/mt), while the average price of second-grade metallurgical coke was RMB 2,172.5/mt ($318.1/mt), up by RMB 178.4/mt ($26.2/mt) or 8.9 percent, both compared to prices in early August (August 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
