In mid-May (May 11-20) this year, the average prices in China of coking coal and second-grade metallurgical coke were recorded at RMB 1,350.0/mt ($199.2/mt) and RMB 1,935.8/mt ($280.6/mt), remaining stable and increasing by RMB 87.0/mt ($12.6/mt) or 4.7 percent, respectively, both compared to prices in early May (May 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
