In late January (January 21-31) this year, the average price in China of coking coal was recorded at RMB 1,180.0/mt ($181.5/mt), remaining stable, while the average price of second-grade metallurgical coke was recorded at RMB 1,944.8/mt ($308.7/mt), down RMB 147.2/mt ($23.4/mt), i.e., decreasing by 7.0 percent, both compared to prices in mid-January (January 11-20), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on February 5.
