In mid-April (April 11-20) this year, the average price in China of coking coal was recorded at RMB 1,180.0/mt ($186.4/mt), remaining stable, while the average price of second-grade metallurgical coke was recorded at RMB 1,626.7/mt ($258.8/mt), down by RMB 68.1/mt ($10.8/mt) or 4.0 percent, both compared to prices in early April (April 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on April 24.
