Average HRB 400 rebar price in China down 1.7 percent in early January

In early January (January 1-10) this year, the average prices in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar, 6.5 mm HPB 300 wire rod, 20 mm Q235 common medium plate, 3 mm Q235 hot rolled sheet and 5 mm x 5 mm angles were respectively recorded at RMB 3,853.2/mt ($562.5/mt), RMB 3,959.6/mt ($578.1/mt), RMB 3,853.6/mt ($562.6/mt), RMB 3,821.5/mt ($557.9/mt), and RMB 4,164.3/mt ($607.9/mt), decreasing by RMB 66.7/mt ($9.7/mt), RMB 73.2/mt ($10.7/mt), RMB 17.1/mt ($2.5/mt), RMB 52.8/mt ($7.7/mt), and RMB 24.5/mt ($3.6/mt), down by 1.7 percent, 1.8 percent, 0.4 percent, 1.4 percent and 0.6 percent, while the average price of 219 mm x 6 mm seamless pipes was recorded at RMB 4,792.2/mt ($699.6/mt), up RMB 4.2/mt ($0.6/mt) or 0.1 percent, all compared to prices in late December (December 21-31) 2018, as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
