Average HRB 400 rebar price in China down 0.5 percent in mid-January

In mid-January (January 11-20) this year, the average prices in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar, 6.5 mm HPB 300 wire rod, 3 mm Q235 hot rolled sheet and 5 mm x 5 mm angles were respectively recorded at RMB 3,835.1/mt ($564.0/mt), RMB 3,928.7/mt ($577.8/mt), RMB 3,806.3/mt ($559.8/mt), and RMB 4,140.2/mt ($608.9/mt), decreasing by RMB 18.1/mt ($2.7/mt), RMB 30.9/mt ($4.5/mt), RMB 15.2/mt ($2.2/mt), and RMB 24.1/mt ($3.5/mt), down by 0.5 percent, 0.8 percent, 0.4 percent and 0.6 percent, while prices of 20 mm Q235 common medium plate and 219 mm x 6 mm seamless pipes were recorded at RMB 3,868.3/mt ($568.9/mt) and RMB 4,800.2/mt ($706/mt), up RMB 14.7/mt ($0.6/mt) and RMB 8.0/mt ($0.6/mt), i.e., rising by 0.4 percent and 0.2 percent, compared to prices in early January (January 1-10), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
