In December last year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by four percent year on year and were up by 35 percent month on month to 136,240 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased 7.73 percent year on year and were up by 31.2 percent month on month to 99,694 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 7.91 percent year on year and were up by 46.75 percent month on month to 36,546 units.
Meanwhile, in 2017, domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 2.8 percent year on year, amounting to 956,194 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 4.52 percent to 722,759 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 2.93 percent to 233,435 units, both on year-on-year basis.
