Automotive sales in Turkey up 2.3 percent in May from April

In May this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 14.83 percent year on year and were up by 2.3 percent month on month to 72,755 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 13.03 percent year on year and were up by 3.8 percent month on month to 57,227 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 20.87 percent year on year and were down by three percent month on month to 15,528 units.

Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 4.78 percent year on year, amounting to 302,311 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 2.13 percent to 234,645 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 12.96 percent to 67,666 units, both on year-on-year basis.
