Automotive sales in Turkey down 44.16 percent in Q1

In March this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 35.53 percent year on year and rose by 97.87 percent month on month to 76,345 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey declined by 35.4 percent year on year and increased by 101.1 percent month on month to 38,628 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles dropped by 35.98 percent year on year and increased by 86.82 percent month on month to 10,593 units.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of the year, domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 44.16 percent year on year, amounting to 88,469 units. In this period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country were down by 43.74 percent to 68,812 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 45.58 percent to 19,657 units, both on year-on-year basis.
