Automotive sales in Turkey down 34.8 percent in August from July

In August this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey declined by 52.65 percent year on year and were down by 34.8 percent month on month to 34,346 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 50.85 percent year on year and were down by 35.8 percent month on month to 26,976 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles dropped by 58.2 percent year on year and were down by 31.2 percent month on month to 7,370 units.

Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 20.8 percent year on year, amounting to 440,428 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country were down by 18.5 percent to 344,870 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 28.04 percent to 95,558 units, both on year-on-year basis.
