Automotive sales in Turkey down 22.85 percent in 2019

In December last year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 16.46 percent year on year and rose by 55.6 percent month on month to 90,500 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey were up by 16.41 percent year on year and increased by 48.2 percent month on month to 70,829 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 16.65 percent year on year and increased by 89.6 percent month on month to 19,671 units.

Meanwhile, in 2019, domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 22.85 percent year on year, amounting to 479,060 units. Last year, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country were down by 20.37 percent to 387,256 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 31.8 percent to 91,804 units, both on year-on-year basis.
