Australia’s Antidumping Commission has announced that it has started an anti-circumvention inquiry in relation to wire rope exported to Australia from South Africa, following an application made by Bekaert Wire Ropes Pty Ltd, a manufacturer of the goods in Australia.

According to the commission, Bekaert Wire Ropes has claimed that a circumvention activity in the form of ‘slight modification of goods exported to Australia’ in order to avoid existing antidumping (AD) measures has occurred.

Antidumping duty, initially imposed on the goods by public notice on December 19, 2017, stand at 28.9 percent for all exporters from South Africa.

The goods in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Number 7312.10.00.
