ArcelorMittal provided notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development Wednesday, indicating it plans to issue temporary layoffs at its New Carlisle, Indiana flat steel mill. Around 20 employees were already laid off earlier this week.

According to local news reports, the company said the layoffs are temporary and should last for six months or less. The mill employs a total of 500 workers.

ArcelorMittal USA has notified Indiana of more than 730 layoffs across the state during April, including its other plants in Burns Harbor and East Chicago.
