ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s crude steel output down three percent in Jan

In January this year, the crude steel production of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, totaled 536,500 mt, down 3.35 percent year on year.
 
In addition, in the given month ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih registered a 2.04 percent decrease year on year in its finished steel output to 469,900 mt, while pig iron production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih decreased by 1.07 percent year on year to 473,200 mt.
 
In a statement, the company stated that it started the year with a good production performance despite the scarcity of scrap particularly in January which affected production of crude steel and rolled products.
 
In January, the company's biggest blast furnace (its 5,000 m3 BF No. 9) underwent scheduled repairs which lasted three days, while the reheating furnace of its wire rod mill No. 1 was revamped in a little over a week. In January, capital repair work commenced on its converter No. 6 and is expected to last for a period of 10 weeks.
