ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has started the reconstruction of its sintering machine No. 5, as part of its investment program which includes ecological and technical modernization of its sinter shop No. 2 with an investment of more than $150 million. The launch of the renewed sintering machine with new aspiration and gas purification systems is planned for December this year.
According to the company’s statement, the purpose of the modernization of the sinter shop No. 2 is to reduce the environmental impact of production, to reduce the level of dust and gas emissions, to improve the technical reliability of equipment and the productivity of the workshop, and to reduce energy costs. This is a long-term project, providing for the reconstruction of the entire complex of equipment in sintering shop No. 2, in which six sinter machines operate. The modernization works began with the reconstruction of sintering machine No. 6 in 2016.
