ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has invested more than UAH 450 million ($17.18 million) in the reconstruction of its converter No. 4 in the converter shop. The implementation of this investment project will enable the company to reduce pollutant emissions into the atmosphere.
The company stated that prior to the reconstruction of the converter No. 4, similar reconstruction works were performed on converters Nos. 5 and 6, where the gas removal and gas cleaning lines were completely replaced.
Oleg Belger, head of the converter shop, stated that at present, converters Nos. 5 and 6 are operating in normal mode, and converter No. 4 is put into pilot operation and they expect an increase in the reliability of the unit and a reduction in the melting cycle time, which will also improve the productivity of the converter shop.
