The Brazilian arm of ArcelorMittal has ordered Italy’s Danieli for a new water treatment plant, to be implemented in its Barra Mansa plant, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The system is part of a new 400,000 mt per year rolling mill, destined to produce medium sized profiles, which was also supplied by Danieli, in a brownfield installation.

The water treatment plant consists of the company’s patented DanFilters and Zero Scale Pit -ZSP, replacing the unit that was serving the decommissioned rolling mill. According to Danieli, the new unit allows for the reduction of construction costs and for simplified maintenance operations.

The startup of the new rolling mill and water treatment plant is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.
