Arcelor will increase its Polish automotive shipments

European steelmaker Arcelor has made a statement to increase its automotive shipments by 50% to 300'000 tons to the Polish automotive sector by 2006. According to the data released, Arcelor's automotive shipments were 205'000 tons in 2002. 60% of these shipments were supplied by German Eko-Stahl which is owned by Arcelor Group and is a lead producer to Central and Eastern Europe. Eko-Stahl is located close to the Polish border of Germany. In addition, Arcelor is looking to increase its shipments particularly to Amica Wronki in the West of Poznan for the production of white goods. Furthermore, Eko-Stahl will need to increase its production of galvanised in order to meet the strong demand for external car parts. Currently Eko-Stahl has two galvanizing lines which have a total annual capacity of 835'000 tons.
