Arcelor targets emerging economies

Arcelor's senior vice president responsible of corporate strategy, Mr.Marc Lacroix told the Middle East Iron and Steel Conference today that; the company's strategy is to grow in growing markets more than mature markets. Accordingly the company aims to have 50 percent of its revenues coming from emerging economies in 2010. Arcelor is expected to continue its investments in merging markets in the near future as well. The company is currently the second largest steel producer in the world and their interest in Turkey's Erdemir plant is very well known. However Mr.Lacroix refrained from making any comments when asked about the rumors on a possible strategic partnership with OYAK for Erdemir. OYAK, of course had won the tender for the privatization of Erdemir.
