According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year the consumer price index (CPI) for Turkish industry in general increased by 2.61 percent month on month, while annual inflation reached 15.39 percent, posting the highest level since January 2004.
Among the main product groups, the highest increases were seen in the food and soft drinks group, with a rise of 5.98 percent on month-on-month basis, and in transportation, up 24.26 percent on year-on-year basis.
