Anglo American expects to resume iron ore output at its Minas-Rio project in Brazil by November or December this year, an executive said this week. Earlier this year, the company estimated to forecast output by the fourth quarter.
According to a media report by Reuters, Anglo American Brazil CEO Ruben Fernandes said the company’s planned capacity goal of 26.5 million mt/year should be postponed by a year to 2021 from a previous 2020 forecast.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, two bursts on March 12 and March 29 at Anglo’s 529kmlong (328milelong) Minas-Rio pellet feed-transporting slurry pipeline, connecting different cities in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, led the iron ore producer to halt both production and iron ore sales.
