Anglo American foresees higher nickel output from Barro Alto

Australian mining giant Anglo American Corporation's nickel business CEO Walter De Simoni has said that the company's Barro Alto project in Goias, Brazil is expected to produce 41,000 mt of nickel in 2013, according to Reuters.

De Simoni said the project, which currently produces 1,000 mt of nickel a month, should reach full capacity in the second half of 2012.

He also added that a study of the company's Jacare project in Para state in Brazil indicates potential for 80,000 mt of nickel per year.
