Anglo American said this week its Minas-Rio dam in Minas Gerais state presents no changes in its structure, following the “accidental” triggering of a warning siren on Jan. 3. The sirens are in place to help communities evacuate in the event of a dam break.

Anglo American said the dam at Minas-Rio’s 529kmlong (328milelong) pellet feed-transporting slurry pipeline site is in “regular” condition, following an investigation of the incident.

Anglo American also conducted other inspections during the week, which the company said did not detect any “anomalies.” The company said it is still investigating why the siren rang.
